The White Wigs Were Douche Bags

This is the foundation of our freedoms, see our Founding Fathers…they were douche bags. They were the outcasts. Just because you’re speech is accepted today doesn’t mean it will be tomorrow or when you’re 80 – but it doesn’t matter. You’re free to be the douche bag you want to be, period.
I learned an amazing story in college. One of the defense attorney’s for John Gacey was a relative to a criminal justice classmate. She invited the two attorneys to campus to speak as well as the lead detective who tracked and lead in prosecuting Gacey. The defense team were asked repeatedly why they defended a man that they knew in their hearts was guilty. Their response will last with me forever – because if that monster, that despicable man could get a fair trial then it means anyone can. Their sole goal was to ensure he was tried according to the law, because it matters. The system works if we can prosecute monsters and saints in the same manner. Their ultimate claim was that he was not prosecuted fairly, and other can argue the merits of that.
Both side need to embrace this sign, to live it. It means we can go through a transition every 2, 4, 8, however many years peacefully and continue moving forward. Because today you’re on top of the world – tomorrow you could very easily be the douche bag.

An Open Letter to Green Avatars
Dear Green Avatar People,
How’s it going? You’ve got to be worn out, it’s been a long journey. You’ve been on the front-lines for close to two weeks, fighting the nobel fight. You struggled to decide if you should show your support or not, you took the 2-3 minutes to find that website that makes you avatar green with only a few clicks, you updated your Twitter profile. It makes my head-spin a little to think of the effort it took to show support for fair elections. We applaud you. And I’m sure that since you’re willing to make such an investment in time and energy to turn a 48pixel photo of your headshot or your favorite anime star or Bullwinkle green you must be really devoted to the cause of fair and open elections.
As such a staunch supporter of fair elections Mr. or Mrs. Green Avatar you must also be a bit conflicted with the results from the Minnesota senatorial race. I mean after all your concerns are about fair and open democratic process, not partisan bickering or ideological differences, right. You’re concerns are that the votes cast are fairly counted, that due process and legal remedies pursued and exhausted to ensure that voters true voices are heard. So whether in the US or abroad you’re a defender of the democratic process, you’d never go overboard criticizing someone for fighting to have the votes counted and recounted, never. You’d definitely support the fight for fairness in Iranian if you knew the races was decided by less than .001%. Good for you, champion of fairness. Hope you sleep well knowing you’ve done your part for democracy, regardless of political affiliation, point of view or ideology.
Signed,

Facebook Can Be Your Italian Grandma
Facebook now has the ability to nag and prod you via its ‘You May Also Know…’ feature. How you ask, by dropping in ‘Become a fan’ buttons – like this one:

Where’s the ‘no more guilt’ option? I saw this one right after clicking the X on the Become a fan of Chik-fil-a profile. It’s not that I don’t dig Chik-fil-a, I just don’t see the need to be a fan. God, we’re still pals right?
