Asking the questions
Chiara Fox from AP asks a tremendous question upon her return from IA Summit 2007: Since When Is “User Experience†a Synonym for “Good� Indeed.
I’m constantly struck by the wake that diehard usability/IA folks leave when they engage with business teams. When I tell people I’m involved with UX, usability I’ve always felt as if I need to apologize for their past interactions with usability folks and their arrogance and hardheadedness; that’s precisely the attitude Ms. Fox comments on. UX and IA are certainly admirable pursuits, but they are but a cog in a much bigger machine; a new approach to age age old problems. User experience is as old as man, good bad or otherwise.
